Water Conservation

Water is critical for Kanab’s economy, quality of life, and the environment. Keep Kanab Unspoiled is working to preserve our water supply.

Kanab’s main source of drinking water is one aquifer north of town that provides some of the cleanest water in the country to our local community. The same aquifer also feeds springs and Kanab Creek, and it is vital to humans, animals and plants.

Keep Kanab Unspoiled believes that water conservation is the only sustainable solution for community-friendly growth.  Keep Kanab Unspoiled encourages:

  • Xeriscaping that creates green spaces with little need for irrigation.
  • Watering before 6 a.m. and after 8 p.m. to reduce evaporation.
  • Upgrading our water infrastructure and repairing water leaks to limit water waste.
  • Curbing unsustainable and water-intensive development, such as golf courses.

Keep Kanab Unspoiled supports Utah’s 20 Gallon Challenge to reduce per capita water use by 25% by 2025.
