On Saturday, Sept. 21st, a dozen eager volunteers gathered in the morning hours at the sandy parking lot of the Peekaboo Canyon Trailhead. Decked out in fluorescent vests and shirts, they took their gloves and bags and headed to their assigned starting points. In the end, the group trekked the 2 1/2 miles up one side of the road and back down Heritage Highway (Highway 89) from milepost 76 to 79 at the Red Knoll, north of Kanab.
Keep Kanab Unspoiled was happy to make a contribution to the community through this service which helps preserve Kanab’s image of beauty and tranquility. The group is required to participate in 3-4 clean ups a year. Needless to sat, there was quite a bit of trash- this highway had never been adopted!
Tired but accomplished, the clean up crew said their goodbyes and parted ways…to meet again another day…
